If you have just survived another tough week in the office and are looking for a weekend, for me, “The Proposal” is your sure bet. Yes, I laughed out loud several times and have more of the audience. The comment was often heard as the credits rolled: “Ooohhh, that was sooo goooood!”.
The story: a woman tough-boss (Bullock) is deported to Canada for willful non-compliance with the immigration authorities of the United States. To save himself, she manages the doormat of an assistant (Reynolds) to marry him. He reluctantly agrees to play along after their “help” him to understand the virtues of being employed. If you think you know where this story goes. . . Well, you’re right. The “happily ever after” can not be avoided. “It’s a comedy, after all. . . Which is cool, how intelligent writers and director to allow the History deviate from the “happily ever after” Sure, we stop at the edge of our seats to comply in the end we had to have known all along to arrive.
The chemistry between the two tracks, another pleasant surprise. I’m not a big fan of both Bullock and Reynolds. Although each smoking hot and talented, has not inspired the decisions of many projects are realized. But here the roles, both acting styles natural fit fairly well, which in turn strengthen the credibility of their characters. The look of constipation Doom Reynold’s face when he was informed he will be active is a hilarious! I saw this in the theater 3 times. It is so funny. I died laughing throughout the movie. This is not a Chick Flick. Many men were in the theater with me, and they laughed louder than me and my friends. The quality is not much better than that. The Director must be satisfied with it, because these players seem to know what to do. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds have been so good together. Ryan was great, even if he does not speak. Only his facial expressions were hysterically funny. He was also an attempt, the song was even funnier. Betty White played his grandmother and was as good as ever. Sandra and Ryan are trying not to love each other, but it did not work. Sandra Bullock is superb. Girl can not help it, it’s just too good. I do not write much about history as it is described in the announcement of the Amazon, and I want to spoil anything. Go see this movie. This is the comedy of the year. I love being spontaneous and not a kind of comedy comedy fake-up, and the proposal is just, you know what to see this movie again and again.

There are two deleted scenes with optional commentary by director Anne Fletcher and writer Peter Chiarelli. There is a scene of Nice with the parents of Andrew (Nelson and Steenburgen). We also see Margaret and Andrew always a little more at ease with each other. They are quite nice but not essential scenes and you will understand why they may have been cut.
There is an alternate ending with optional commentary. Fletcher and Chiarelli talk about why they do not use this, and another who had not used, as well. The humor in this scene is much larger than the rest of the film and seems out of place.
“Set Antics: Outtakes and other absurdities of the proposal” is a montage of gaffes cast around on the set. It looks like a lot of fun making this film was.
Finally, there is an audio commentary by Fletcher and Chiarelli. You begin to explain the dichotomy between the two main characters. Fletcher says that the script and loved Bullock Chiarelli to make all sorts of bad character notes. He talks about the mechanics of the story, then they have the challenge of working on-site interviews. This is a pretty decent length of two people obviously proud of his film.

Sometimes a movie just for fun. It’s one of those films. It is never next to “Gone with the Wind” or “A Streetcar Named Desire” as a place great film, but damn, it’s fun. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds are quite funny to remember (very easy on the eyes) and have absolutely great chemistry. Both are top of their game and turn in exceptional cases, comedic performances. Add to that a winning performance by the amazing Betty White, a cast of solid players in circulation, and guarantees a good time. Of course, the plot is predictable but who cares? If you have all the talent on the big screen in a cinema, and are too busy laughing analyze it, it does not matter. I rented the movie, but now I want to buy. It was so good!
If I only qualification of the actor This is a film five stars in my book.
